Ukhti, may the words you have shared be evidence for you on Yawmul Qiyaamah, ameen.

How well your words rang true ... this is the situation we currently find ourselves in. We are unable to enjoy the true fruits of our blessed deen, because we ourselves have become 'satisfied' we the bitter fruits of life, unable or, even, unwilling to grasp the reserved fruits for those that wish to strive beyond... SubhaanAllahi.

How long can we continue to, as you beautifully stated, "hover at the edge of belief..."?

Ukhti, masha'Allah la hawla wa laa quwwata illah billah

salam alaykum wa rahmatullah wa barakatu
please forgive the speed of my typing and the resulting mistakes as i've to go pray but i wanted to jot down my thought before i forget inshallah.
i think the two questions you presented are ESSENTIAL inshallah for everyone to ask themselves and i pray those who read will take it personally and ask themselves inshallah, not just as they read. but if there is one thing they should take inshallah, tis these two questions, and then they should spend loads of time coming up with an answer and rectifying their selves inshallah.
the two qs are: let us ask ourselves two questions: have we ‘presented’ ourselves to our Lord (Swt)? and if so in what state?
you know, i was reading the verse in baqara that says (my transliteration here ok) ya ayuha ladheena amanu, adhulu fi silmi kaafattan wa la tatabi3u khutuwati shaytan, innahu lakum aduwun mubeen. 2:208, which translates roughly that oh you who have believed or attained faith, enter into islam completely, and do not follow the khutuwat of the shaytan as he is indeed your sworn enemy. and i was thinking... many of us are muslims yet we have not entered it completely. we are hovering at the edge of belief, having accepted that Allah is our Lord and Muhammad (saw) is whom we should follow yet our desires still rule us, and our understanding is still tainted with jahiliyya and our actions do not reflect the theory of this exquisite deen.
now i'm speaking about myself here but i think that the two qs you posed are so important because they will show all of us where we stand and the lengths we still have to travel to reach that station of truly being a servant of Allah... sigh...
Allah al Musta'an sisters and success only comes from Him...
speaking of which, i'm off to my prayer, not rushed inshallah as the adhaan just went :)
